hello friends    well i think this is really a good job that all of you are doing with the linux mailing list here. well and yes i do have a problem. i am new to linux. i have a P200 mmx machine with 1.5gb for the linux partition. i installed linux from the chip special for linux. and one of my friend got the january issue of pcquest and we upgraded linux from there. well i have not installed lilo in my mbr i access my linux partition through loadlin vmlinuz root=/dev/hda3/ one of my friend told me to do it. yes i do have a microsoft product in my default partition well i have a ess 1868 sound card. can any body help me to configure it i used the pnp configurator it says your kernel sound system is not compiled. i dont know what it means does anybody know how to do it. would be really thankfull for the answer. oh one more thing. well i am new to linux. Can anybody suggest me some good book for linux. so that i can read and learn linux. thankyou in advance. munir
