Hi Guys,
My name is Rajesh Deo. (Tall guy in a white shirt from last meeting)
I am a new member to ilug-bom. I recently installed RHL 6.1 from PCQ CD on a
pc with SiS 6326 card (supported to be supported) and a ViewSonic E653
Monitor (not supported). The X configuration is poor. I have noticed
following things:
1. During install the installer recognizes SiS 6326 but shows 4MB VRAM
instead of the 8 MB actually present.
2. If I run Xconfigurator the PCI card probe reports SiS86c236 and SVGA as
server.
3. X starts but within gnome but the terminal/xterm screen shows no letters
or prompts, a field in pale brown with black background for rest is only
seen. Same thing for Emacs also.
ViewSonic E653 is not supported so I had to do a custom selection
and settled for super VGA mode (2 entry in choices) and Vsync range of
50-100
Monitor ranges:
Hsync: 0-72 kHz
Vsync: 0-120 Hz
Any suggestions on proper setting up of x server?
