I heard on a BBC discussion over the weekend that about 50% of Internet
usage in India is through Cybercafes. Those are people waiting for exposure
to Linux.
What is required to be done is to prepare a How-To type of document for
(say) Red Hat distribution.
1. To install/configure/tweek RH for a Cybercafe both software and
hardware.
2. To configure for mail,chat surfing,backup.... FOR
a.Floating population
b.Fixed population who have accounts with the Cybercafe and can be
allocated some diskspace so that they can save their work, for this
something like SO5.1 can also be offered with network printing..
3. Ultimately it will come down to costs and it has to be demonstrated how
the cost of using of Linux compares with that of Windows and about the
extra profitability of running such a Cybercafe using Linux.
