[ILUG-BOM] defragmenter

Are there any defragmenter programs available for linux? Are they needed?.. because i heard that the ext2 filesystem does some on the fly defragmentation. Anyways i got some program which is in the beta stage which demands that i unmount my root partition, i was kinda scared of trying in primarily because it was beta and i didn't wanna risk losing data.   Grover www.grover.com/ranjan/
