Although sendmail has traditionally been the favourite mail-server, qmail
is emerging as a much better option. It is damn easy to use and works very
well. I had tried setting up sendmail once, but understanding
/etc/sendmail.cf is as challenging as learning a new language.

Qmail can easily replace and also emulate sendmail on any system. It is
controlled by a handful of simple text files and a very powerful system of
maintaining features like aliases, user preferences ...

I have tried setting up qmail on my home computer and really love it. The
documentation is perfect and explains everything in detail. Just go through
it once or twice and you will be off in a jiffy!

So, in my opinion, get onto the qmail bandwagon.
