Dear Colleague, This is just to remind you about the following event. Regards, - Durgesh Rao for ACM Mumbai ACM SIGNET Seminar Topic: Active Server Pages (ASP) Speaker: Vishal Doshi, Network Genie Date: Friday, 14 April 2000, 6.30 p.m Venue: Lecture Theatre, NCST Juhu Abstract: ASP's(Active Server Pages) are Microsoft technology for providing dynamic web content. An Active Server Page is essentially an HTML page that includes one or more scripts (small embedded programs) that are processed on a Microsoft IIS Web server (usually) before the page is sent to the user. These scripts receive their input via standard CGI methods, and generate HTML pages as output. In this seminar, we will briefly look at how ASP works, how it differs from similar technologies such as server-side includes (SSI) and Common Gateway Interface (CGI), and the issues involved in using scripting technology on the client versus server side, and issues with non-Microsoft servers and browsers. *** Open to all.
