www.zdnetindia.com went live yesterday morning.
The Website is powered by Zope 2.1.6 and MySQL 3.23, with Apache 1.3.4
as a logging engine.
The box is a Pentium III 500 MHz with 256 MB RAM running a heavily
customised version of Red Hat 6.0 (kernel 2.2.14 SMP).
I'm watching Apache's logs scroll past as I type this. There's
approximately one hit every second. That's not much, but Python's CPU
usage is barely 5%, while MySQL is 0.1%.
This, for a site that's purely database driven but has only /one/
connection from Zope to MySQL.
Yay for Zope, Python and Linux.
No yay for MySQL. It's fast, but it's taken one whole week of day and
night slogging/cursing to get it that way. You don't understand
databases, don't use MySQL. Play with MS Access or some weenie tool like
that.
And oh, anything unusual (broken links/security issues) goes to
