We also need to moderate registrations to make sure that no one
registers someone else - eg I register someone I don't like so that he
receives 100 mails a day.
To do this, we can take a tip from the perlfaq9.
When someone registers, send a mail to that email address, with the
following message:
---------------------
Someone, probably you registered this email address - [EMAIL PROTECTED]
- to receive mails (digest or regular) from ilug-bom.org
If you received this in error, ignore this email. If you do wish to
receive these mails, then send an email to:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
with the word subscribe in the subject line and the following text:
<a random dictionary word> written backwords as the body of the message.
Thank you
(ilug-bom auto reg confirm)
---------------------
Sending the word backwards is important because if someone has an
autoresponder, it may just send back the mail and fool our auto
registrar.
Including a random word is important, because if I wanted to spam
someone using ilug-bom, I'd first register him, then wait half a day and
send a mail from that address with the word subscribe in the subject
line.
