Use Netcat
nc -z -v 202.54.1.18 1-xxxx

tarce any open ports
$nc -z -v vsnl 1-100
vsnl [202.54.1.18] 25 (smtp) open
vsnl [202.54.1.18] 23 (telnet) open

use -u for udp ports
