I object to any one person or organization paying up for all the
expenses, for the simple reason that it (the lug) belongs to everyone.
The expenses are meagre, and therefore there will never be any problem
for covering the expenses by contribution, even by the student
members. And when lug goes for training workshops, we will charge to
match the expenses (no-loss-no-profit). I dont like the idea that
someone makes money in order to maintain a lug.

In fact many people in the past have volunteered to contribute
generously. For taking the cash we have problems, since we are not
registered. However for resources needed for maintaining the ftp site
we did accept the contribution from Prakash Shetty (a 17gb harddisk).
We accepted many CDs from SuSE, Redhat, GT enterprises in the past,
and ofcourse from Prakash Shetty.

If any of you wish to sponser projection facility for all our meets
then, that will be ideal. We have asked many times, but no one came
forward.

BARC and Anushaktinagar BusDepot are very well known landmarks known
to every taxi or autowala, and there is train and BEST service to the
very next door of HBCSE.

But please read on.

I live in the southern most tip of south bombay, colaba point, and I
commute on sundays only for lug activities.

->If we want the ILUG meets to be successful we need to have it at
->different places..

I have never had the impression so far that our meets are not
successful. The organization is clearly growing. If we wish to make
it more successful, we need people to offer convenient venues. In
fact, when Revolution Informatics provided us a venue on the
Chowpatty, we all went there. Absolutely no problems if there are
people to offer such places for the meet. After the meet, never even
once we had a peek from people from Revolution Informatics. They
haven't even subscribed to the list, and shared their linux experience
with rest of the users in the city. We thought they are no longer
interested.

The director of HBCSE gladly agreed to waive the rent (payable by any
other organization using our premises) for the AC hall with all the
facilities of a typical lecture room. He even approved a lan
connection to the hall at my request. (the civil work is pending).
Of course this is not to be solely used by the lug.

Anyway before you all get distracted let me say, let us change venues.
No problems. But where? Whenever we had the offer we took it, at
Bhavin's terrace, Revolution Informatics. But after that no more
offers! If the Bandra place is good for our meets with the required
facilities, I will centainly vote for it.

I think you all understand why HBCSE becomes the default venue for the
lug meets. Its far, but once you reach (just once a month) it is cozy
and comfortable.
