Lets keep it as suggested by Nargarjuna and others..
The LUG is essentially a volunteer organization. Lets keep it that way. If we
start a *fee* concept or like,,,, we run the risk of isolating many who would
want to join . We may be visualized as a commercial org. which may not go down
too well. Also many seeking help would tend to think twice.
As for expenses..... we can have a contrib. whenever necessary like now. Those
who attend ( as well as those who can't attend ) are asked to contrib towards
making the expense amt. but lets make it known that this is only on a volunteer
basis. as usual the more that contribute ( the more that attend the meets ;-)
the less each has to contribute.
I don't think that there really should be a problem ... judging from the
responses this thread has generated. I prefer keeping it voluntary as that gives
the LUG a feeling of freeness & openess.
If we bring a member-ship scheme...
( as tempting as that is :-) we really may turn away quite a few members.
The Lug meeting expenses can be ( & should) be split amongst those who attend
( someone had mentioned that the banglore LUG does this ? )
