If  I'm  not mistaken you are using Sis 6215 as your display card.
(God help us .. the tormented souls...)

6215 is still not (auto) detected. Also gui's like GNOME and KDE (I guess
you are using one of them ) aren't the lightest of desktops around.

I have the same card and making X window run in 16 bit is a huge achievement
. Playing movies....
are you sure you want to do this ? ;-)

My opinion
Movies: Best watched in theatres or on Xing Player ;-)
