It *is* accepting TCP/IP connections. iptables won't help here.
You need to check the IMAP/xinetd config files for that.

Set up routes for 0.0.0.0 properly. Also check whether
the default gateway allows you to connect outside
( If it's a Linux box, check whether ip forwarding/
masquerading is enabled etc. etc. )
