I have thought of the following course/guideline for workshop for Hardware
Vendors.
The duration of the workshop will be 1 day (6-8 hrs).
1. Why Free and Open Source Software (30 Mins).
2. Outline of the System and Basic differences between GNU/Linux and MS
Windows. (30 Mins).
3. Hardware compatibility and on-line references for checking
compatibilities of various hardware. (30 Mins).
4. Introduction to various common Applications (30 Mins).
5. Installation of GNU/Linux, partitioning basics, dual boot etc. (2 Hrs.).
6. Introduction to basic System Administration, CLI, GUI, X, WM, DM etc.
(1:30 Hrs.)
7. Basic troubleshooting principles and guidelines. (Reading log files
etc.) (30 Mins).
We have to evolve course material as above. Please suggest any changes,
addition deletion etc. Also this is just a broad outline. We need detail
course material which we can give to workshop participants as handouts.
Everyone is requested to contribute.
