Yeap. It does require another parameter as kernel name:
Correct command was /sbin/mkinitrd -f -v /boot/initrd-2.4.18-27.7.x.img 2.4.18-27.7.x
After lots of googling i havent been able to come to any correct result yet. I have
already tried removing initrd from grub.conf and it still does not work.
