Hm, do you have a strace showing the close happening at the same time?
What about install()?

Yes, I do see the close happening, at which point the issue is not seen.
It's only seen if the second task came in before this close was called. For this task, as the file was already opened, it doesn't go through hvc_install.

(I figured adding some logs in the drivers would be helpful than straces to also include hvc_install)
