Several solutions are available: 1) CEE-J (http://www.skelmir.com) 2) Sun's KVM (http://www.sun.com) 3) IBM's J9 (http://www.embedded.oti.com) 4) PocketLinux (http://www.pocketlinux.com)
Here's also a more complete list of different virtual machines: http://www.geocities.com/marcoschmidt.geo/java.html#skelmir P.S.: In case you didn't notice my company makes CEE-J (sorry for the shameless plug). CEE-J is by the far the fastest and smallest solution out there for the PPC. Offer both static and dynamic compilation for PPC and other processors as well as high speed interpreter. It also scales from being a J2ME solution to a full PersonalJava solution including a high performance graphics engine which runs directly on the frame buffer (end of shameless plug).
