Yo All! More success. I have an Intel I210 NIC. It uses the igb driver. That also works in hardware timestamp mode. Using the identical test config and script as before.
I futzed around and got chronyd to work with the SHM 2, despite the bad perms. On the same test host as before, linked to a software grand master, I am seeing chronyd calcuated jitter of 1 uSec. Very nice. Way better than the 82574L (100s of uSec), but the difference may be related to the use of ntpd versus chronyd. In any case, this puts the nail in the coffin of the I217-LM. Clearly the I217-LM, or the way the e1000e drives it, is broken. RGDS GARY --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gary E.
