Ok, now that i see it's clear. When i use it over a vlan dev then it does have the tag i suspect? The ptp4l stack just gets the normal frames and would also just send normal frames but because of the vlan dev it would send frames with tag even with L2.
I mean i suspect this is not in the region of ptp4l anymore. Thanks anyway. Well, that may be a matter of opinion. The last time I looked, VLAN tags are only specified for trunking ports of switches. The only valid use of VLAN tags from a station's port is to request a priority (using VLAN zero). That option is not implemented in linuxptp. HTH, Richard
