Hi Justin,

I believe you should be able to achieve required functionality with phc2sys
service. It can be used to synchronize ptp4l master by system clock. phc2sys
is part of ptp4l project so you should already have it, just read manual to
set it up according your configuration.

Subject: [Linuxptp-users] Linux PTP without a GPS device

Hi Richard,

This is Justin and I was working on a project which needed a PTP source.

The source will be connected to HUAWEI MA5608T OLT which indeed will share
the time to the ONUs connected to it.

We have used Oscilloquartz OSA 5410 Series to achieve PTP synchronization
but the device requires a GPS device to be outdoor.

The issue is that the place of installation doesn't have a GPS signal, so I
was wondering if we could create a PTP master source which will use its
local clock as the master input instead of the GPS device. We only need the
devices connected to ONUs to be synchronized with each other.

I have tried using linuxptp but it didn't work as we didn't have a GPS
device to provide us the time. It will be great if you could give your
insight for our issue.
