You may need to just change the file options on that particular file. Do a
chmod a+rwx /etc/pcmcia/config.opts and then try

hello everybody,

I am been trying without luck to get any live CD to work my pcmcia card with my Compaq Presario R3310CA laptop. I have even installed to my hard drive Knoppix 3.9, which I have heard is easy to remaster, the only kicker here is that while I am trying to edit the etc/pcmcia/config.opts to see the I/O port for the pcmcia card as preveously give to me, thanx for that info if I did not say it before, but everytime I try to save the changes I have made it says that I do not have permission to change this file. I have no idea how I am supposed to go into root mode to edit a file???? anyway I just wanted to know if anyone knows of a good distro that is easy to remaster, so that I can get my pcmcia card to work, and has alot of the network analysis tools and security software of Knoppix.

Thanx in advance to everyone who answers.

Mark
