I have tried both versions on the 2.6.16 release candidates. Neither
the softmac version nor the devicescape one allowed me to get an IP. I
tried several different firmwares to cut up and use, built my own deb
for CVS wpa_supplicant, and managed to pretty much mess up my Ubuntu
setup after a while.

Now I run Ubuntu for daily use and dual boot with a small Gentoo
partition for experimenting with these things. Still no worky for me
though. I'll scream from the rooftops when it works so you won't miss
it. :)
