I have an R3240 with AMD64 running Ubuntu-64 Breezy. I'm thinking of upgrading the 60 GB 4200 rpm drive that it came with because it is just too slow. I have already increased the RAM to 1.25 GB and have since determined that the hard drive is the bottleneck. Considering the following two Hitachi 7200 rpm drives:

I don't know what ATA-6 means, for example. Would there be any problem with this drive in my R3240? Will the R3240 be able to utilize its faster features, or will the ATA interface on the R3240 dumb the drive down to the point where there is no speed difference? (I don't need the space really, it's the speed I'm after.) Also interested in any other comments and suggestions for fast replacement drives. _______________________________________________ LinuxR3000 mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pcxperience.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/linuxr3000 Wiki at http://prinsig.se/weekee/
