Yes, master should be targeting Luna now. Jeff and me was planning to do these changes once 2.2 is out. If someone volunteers to do the needed changes I wouldn't mind if it happens sooner. Even changing 3.0 to require Java 7 as it looks like no one objects is something I would love to see.
