Hi all, Here we are quite excited about a feature one of our awesome interns is working on: pcap support in TMF.
I will be clear that we love wireshark and are not planning on replacing it. We want to use these traces to help with cloud tracing. So here is our battle plan, feel free to provide feedback. 1- Make a PCAP parser (done) 2- Make PCAP parser unit/performance tests (not merged yet) 3- Integrate PCAP parser into TMF (prototyped) 4- Make some views to demonstrate network trace utility (prototyped and welcome to other patches) 5- Add a networking perspective (name tbd) 6- Add pcap feature to TMF (soon) <stretch> 7- support PCAPng It's a fun process and I hope sharing this helps.
