Intel copied the specs setup by AMD for their processors. 64 will run on either.
Running a 64 bit OS may have some issues with plugins/codecs. Specificaly flash. The 64 bit flash alpha is actually really really good. Especially considering its alpha. Other then plugin/codec issues you should not notice a difference between te 64/32 bit versions on the surface. 64 will give you full access to the processor for performance needs. However if you are not actually using apps that take advancetage of that... again you won't notice the difference on the surface. For internet/email 64 bit is overkill for most users. 32 is less hassle.
