I did a little research, and came up with a couple of good web hosting examples. Here they are:
http://rackspace.com/ and http://www.business.att.com/enterprise/Family/contact-center-solutions-enterprise/hosted-contact-center-enterprise/?source=IEa2250015mcoc41 Now in order for me to determine a good solution that fits more closely to what your friends requires, I would need to do a little surface requirements gathering. Do you just want server space? Are you going to run an ecommerce buz? or will you use the site for just information, just database, just Marketing or and any combination of the above, or something other? Will it be non profit org. ? Do you want the host to administer the Linux, and apache, and you will administer the php, and mysql? What are you going to do with the website? What features will the website require. Does he need a shopping cart? If I have this information, I can find a good solution to what your friend needs. You can contact me offlist if you like.
