When defining "cheaper", it's good to differentiate between CAPEX and OPEX.

CAPEX, sure...someone doesn't have to spend anything to get it up and running.

However, in many environments, yearly RHEL support is a good idea to
help reduce your OPEX expenses, particularly in really chaotic
environments with revolving doors.
