I finally got around to checking this out. Im running 64 bit karmic
so I compiled from source, installing a few dependencies:
libsdl1.2-dev libftgl-dev cl-sdl-img libpcre3 libpcre++-dev

I also made a deb package (karmic) for the other 64bit folks out there:
http://stealcode.com/assets/deb/gsource/gource0.24-1amd64.deb

I was lazy and made the deb file with checkinstall, so one will likely
need to install some dependencies either before or after gource will
work.

If you are running 32 bit, there is a deb file on the project page.
