This is S.Sundar Raman,Chairman,Computer Society
of MIT.
The Computer Society of MIT(Madras Institute of
Technology),Anna University,Chennai is the student association under
the Computer Center of MIT. Our goal is any MIT-ian must necessarily
have enough computer skills to solve problems in his industrial domain
and if need be help others as well. We are the pioneers of introducing
the FOSS into our college and conducting regular linux sessions with
the help of NRCFOSS,AUKBC Research Center.
We have been organizing Carte Blanche, a National
level Free/Open Source Technical Fiesta every year, since 2005. This
year,Carte Blanche '09 falls on 31st January (Saturday).We are well
supported by NRCFOSS(National Resource Centre for Free/Open Source
Software),AUKBC in our college and ILUGC(Indian Linux Users Group).The
event comprises of demos and seminars on Free/Open Source Softwares
apart from the technical events that are conducted in the Free/Open
Source tools. We will arrange seperate open source demo stalls along
with advertising stalls for corporate as well.
Our Objective:
Our primary objective is to make the grass roots
(beginners) and developers of Free/Open Source Software to interact
and to create awareness among the student community. This event has
been providing a platform for the budding software engineers in the
open source.
Our Target Audience :
* School and College students interested in open source software.
* Working professionals migrating towards open source softwares in
their corporate.
* Participants of Onilne events like programming contest.
