Dude.. basic ifconfig syntax in linux starts with
ifconfig interface Where interface is generally the driver name followed by the device number/interation default is eth0 - as in the first "eth"ernet device the wireless chip / card under discussion here is produced by Atheros So ath0 as in the first "ath"eros device.
