When you install it takes packages from your cache instead of downloading
them. You may have to clean them out first and remove your settings before
you re-install. When you remove with Synaptic try Completely Remove, first.
If this does not work you can sudo apt-get clean or purge individual files.
These things can be tricky to resolve in my experience.
