I have run into Vista/7 requiring some additional security layer (what
it was I don't recall) that prevented my Vista share from sharing with
XP (though I think 7 did OK). 

The easy solution was to turn off that extra security, but for the life
of me I can't remember what it was called.  Google may be more helpful,
Vista sharing to XP or somthing.
