Eaziest thing is to run install again but!!!!!this time stop right after you
recreate the partitions with out formatting anything and then jump in to
grub install.

I think someone should be able to tel us if any distro have this kid of
repair already builded in.
I think Ubuntu have option also to repair any installation by going through
the install options somewhere.
Do not get surprised if it takes as long as install it self +some.

We will need anyone experienced with this options to tell us exactly how and
where and IF!

Or Google around for Ubuntu repair options.
