Scott,

did you try apt-cache search pim

Why not export all of your contacts to a csv and import them into Google
Contacts or what ever you wish and go from there? There are tons of online
ldap servers like, plaxo that allow you to store contacts from various sites
and access them through extensions(free), T-bird has an extension. It
depends on what webmail client you are using in regards to ldap
compatibility and modules available. I used to rely on Thunderbird also and
it's gotten way too clunky for me. I use mutt which reads my contacts from
my ldap server and I can access them in any client that is ldap compatible

You might want to install to create a plaxo account, install the t-bird
extension, sync away and get rid of T-bird.

FYI: I don't have a plaxo account because I manage my own ldap server but
plaxo.com is generally always up
