There is something wrong with the install instructions, at least under
Linux (Linux Mint 10).
First, the printed manual mentions "the full install option" which
does NOT exist when running "setup.sh"
Did install it following prompts, BUT.....
>From the READ.ME file:
--------------------
(3) PLAYING THE GAME
--------------------
Run 'heretic2' to start the game.
The first time you run Heretic II it will create a .loki/heretic2
directory in your home directory. Saved games and preferences
will
be stored here.
This did NOT work. That's because you provide no path or location for
the executable.
Doing a search of the entire Linux file system does not find an
*executable* "heretic2" it only finds the folder.
Under Linux a path must be provided AND you must switch to the actual
file location (folder).
Found the executable buried on the CD.
Copied it to the \usr\local\games\heretic2 folder (created by
installer).
Ran it. It did create .loki/heretic2 in my home folder as stated in
READ.ME, but that's all.
Cannot run the game using executable heretic2, all that happens is a
box pops open and closes.
How do I run "Heretic II" under Linux Mint?
