In that situation, double-check the SMTP settings, password, etc. If that still fails, then there might be a firewall that's blocking the traffic now. Try using telnet to connect to the SMTP host on the appropriate port (the port you use for sending mail). If Telnet connects (but will just get dropped by the remote host) then there's probably something wrong with Evolution.
