I'm not sure. I know I was frustrated with the steps I had to do to get my
broadcom working, but once I fugured out it's just a few simple steps, it's
a breeze now. I can offer a better suggestion than using a hardwire: get a
new wireless card. They are cheap ($10ish), and simple to install (usually
a panel under the laptop, or just under the keyboard).
