Hi,
Can someone please let me know whether a samba server requires kernel
support(any kind of kernel module). I want to install samba server on a
linux machine that will not allow any kind of modifications to the
kernel(It doesn't even have kernel module support).
I've used a test machine (debian squeeze) with custom Linux kernel(3.3.4).
I've removed anything that I could find using smb, cifs. Even after doing
so the samba server works fine and I am able to share folders.
Even lsmod doesn't show anything related to smb/cifs.
Does this mean Samba does not require any changes to the kernel?
Thanks,
Siddharth
