dig lists the server is uses at the end of a response. For example: $ dig example.com

On linux, this is specified in the /etc/resolve.conf file: $ grep nameserver /etc/resolv.conf nameserver 8.8.8.8 nameserver 8.8.4.4 A google for dig, resolv.conf, or DNS for more details. dig is especially rich.
