You may need a newer version of hplip. As Mint is based on Ubuntu and
Ubuntu is notorious for not updating hplip when HP releases then latest
version. In which case you will need to get it from HP directly.

Unfortunately its not a straight install as hplip will require
dependencies that while available in ubuntu aren't using the package
names hplip expects. So be prepared to do some research on what package
names ubuntu is using that have your dependencies. Once you get all the
required packages installed hplip will install. Be sure to remove the
old version first as well.
