That is an odd problem. Hopefully we can guide you to at least figuring out
the problem if not solving it. I personally don't use Nixnote2, but there
are some common troubleshooting tasks we can try.

First off, I would suggest running Nixnote2 from a terminal window. Open
whatever terminal program Lubuntu has, and type "nixnote2" without the
quotes. Applications will typically output their errors to a console
window, so this is the easiest thing to try. Take a look for any line
stating "error" or "warning", or similar line. This should point what the
type of problem is. If you are unsure, post the output here and we can take
a look at it.
