Simple question why does linux hold onto cached dentry/inodes/data for an
extended period of time and to the point where a host experiences memory
starvation and you're forced to drop the cache to stop the host falling
over ?
Before anyone answers don't regurgitate the Linux ate my ram issue. The
issue I see seems to be fundamental flaw, dirty ratios and cache pressure
settings have little affect on the cache reclaim
Short of cron'ing the dropping of the cache Linux appears to handle this
quite badly?

Am I missing something ?
