Thinkpads make excellent Linux machines. I have a E595 that runs like a champ. My model has a NVME SSD with Win 10, and I added a regular SSD so I can dual boot without the dual boot issues. First I set the normal SSD as the first boot device in BIOS, then disabled Secure Boot (maybe it isn't needed now days, I didn't test). I installed Linux Mint, and now if I want to boot to Windows, I just hit enter on boot and choose the NVME SSD to boot up.
