Hi,

Why go through such a mess of opening the server just to check if the disks are working or not.  You guys would hate me for this, but there is a simpler way to check if the HDDs are working.  Just try installing Windows.

By the way, I too had a same prob not with IBM X-346 server but with my home machine.  The machine has hardware raid controller  and SATA HDD,  Linux recongnizes SATA as SCSI HDD.  Whenever, I tried to install Linux, I use to get no HDD found.

I beleive I can help.  Can you tell me which linux version, you are trying to install.

hi guys! sachin here,
well i m installin linux on IBM x346 model eserver the with 140GB HDD (3 Hard disks) & 4GB RAM with Raid Adapter (IBM Server Raid),
problem is that while installing linux, before anaconda starts it detects my hdd as scsi hdd and after selecting all my required packages and then when i say install it says hdd not found (the server is new-box pack),
my guess is that maybe linux is not able to detect my hdd because of latest raid card or new scsi hdd, so i tried to install linux by linux dd command by introducing an driver disk but that did not work.
so can anyone help wid dis installation i feel strongly about my guess or for that purpose help wid any support software.
thanks
