This is a bit of a sore point, with both xf86-input-wacom and linuxwacom
still being in rather active development. I hope that by the time most
distros switch to xf86-input-wacom, the effort needed is simply backporting,
not synching.
Unfortunately, I've been rather tied up lately with other stuff and didn't
have the time needed to spend on xf86-input-wacom.

this is also one of the reason I'm pushing for small changes only, it's a
lot easier to apply multiple patches than it is to apply parts of a patch.
How large would the diff be against your bamboo branch? If it's just a
limited number of changes that can be (ideally) explained why, then it's
easier to just apply it to the bamboo branch and merge that branch in once
it's ready (what's the current status btw, I lost track of it like of pretty
much everything lately).
If in doubt, the smaller the patch the better...

Cheers,
  Peter
