Put on the maintainer hat that Peter suggested I try out and have
merged the patches (after appropriate modifications). The
Signed-off-by and Reviewed-by lines didn't make it upstream (...I
forgot to add them to my local repo before pushing...), but otherwise
I think it was a success. At least, there don't *appear* to be any
indications of a smoking crater in the direction of SourceForge :D
