What is your mouse setting? /dev/input/mice? Don't!!!
Remove this use /dev/input/mouse1 or something

Even usbhid can deal with this. (At least not for me).

Did you try 
wacdump /dev/input/eventX X=1,2,3 etc?

   Piotr> xxd /dev/input/wacom shows that it works

The only thing which occur to me is, upgrade to 2.6.13 that works for
me.
