I have tried WD-40 with mixed results and most of them were bad. I use the left over mobile 1 from my empty oil bottles that I use in all of my vehicles. I feel that Mobile 1 provides better lubrication. In fact I use Mobile 1 oil to lubricate the bars that the print heads ride on in dot matrix printers at work. I have been doing this for years and have had excellent results.

There you can find many useful informations concerning the periodical lubrication method and much more (about the Lisa too). The lubrication is done with WD 40- please use only WD40, all other products can have negative side effects.
