Why so?
I use Rich's mail2news to gateway a variety of mailing lists (including
list-managers) to local newsgroups. mail2news is simplicity itself. All
you need is an alias entry to have your MTA deliver the messages to
mail2news. Something along the lines of
foo-list: "/usr/bin/mail2news -n alt.music.foo"
A possible argument against mail2news could be that you don't like its
header munging. However, what it does appears to be quite sensible, and
is likely to be much better than any quick hacks you are likely to come
up with, e.g. this "|inews -h" suggestion somebody else mentioned.
